    Hi! My name is Anahita! I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine. I love learning and creating, which is why coding sparks joy in me! About 4.5 years ago, I decided to take my learning to the next level by going to graduate school for Computer Science. It was challenging, especially since almost all my peers had undergraduate degrees in CS, and some had years of experience in the tech industry.
    Despite all the challenges, I persevered. Long story short, The most valuable outcome of my graduate studies was learning how to learn effectively and efficiently. This skill has been incredibly beneficial and is something I continually rely on in my career.

    I got my first Software Engineering job at Expedia Group, and started in August 2022. The most valuable lesson I leaned there was to belive in myself and my abilities. More about Me

    Work Experience

    • Expedia Group

      Software Engineer || | Seattle, WA | September 2023 - May 2024

      I contributed to Expedia's core Order Management services. Here are some highlights of the tasks that I worked on:

      • Have you ever used Expedia's Virtual Chat Agent? My team and I added a feature so that it would show the cancellation fee/penalty of a Refund, to avoid customer's confusion. I developed the backend logic of this feature. It resulted in a 27% reduction in agent-assigned hours, leading to an estimated annual saving of $2.1M

      • I Identified and addressed a critical gap in a GraphQL core Search Service intended to replace an existing REST search service. The new service lacked Nested query functionality, which was essential for serving more than 70% of the original search REST API's. I Conducted a thorough analysis and documented potential resolutions. Then, implemented customized Elasticsearch queries, including Multi-match and Boolean Query, using Spring Boot’s Spring Data Elasticsearch library. These enhancements enabled nested query functionality, supporting ~1300TPS

      • Some other tasks I completed included: designing and implementing Performance Testing. I used Gatling, and mocked the downstream response. Created some Branch deployment CI/CD pipelines (Using Spinnaker & Github Actions), and more!

      • I also Provided on-call support for Tier-1 and Tier-2 services, utilizing Datadog and Splunk for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes, and debugging client tickets

    • Expedia Group

      Software Engineer | | Seattle, WA | August 2022 - September 2023

      • One of my first tasks was to upload the Test results of a service to an S3 bucket. The bucket didn't exist, so first I created it using CFT (CloudFormation Templates). The next step was to implement the uploading process in the CI/CD pipeline. This required setting up a cross-functional IAM role and writing scripts to complete the task

      • Increased the Test coverage of ~10 micro-services,leveraging Junit and Mockito for Unit Testing,and Wiremock for Integration Testing. Achieving a comprehensive coverage rate surpassing 85%, thereby ensuring compliance with internal testing standards

      • My manager asked me if I wanted to be the Mentor/Buddy for the incoming summer intern. I was delighted! I was chosen from all the team members!! Safe to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and put a lot of effort into preparing a comprehensive onboarding checklist for them, something I never had when I started. Jokes aside, did you have good onboarding material where you work? I also aimed to provide guidance while allowing room for exploration, encouraging them to learn and grow independently

      • Got the News that I've been promoted in the promotion cycle !! I was thrilled :)

    • Juni Learning

      • Communicated with parents on a regular basis, providing updates on student progress and results from learning assessments, and maintained thorough records for each student’s skill progression
